"Low-Tech" Sugisaku's "DOUJOU" of Forced Restoration

Victim Number 3 : KAWASAKI KH250B

The conditions of "Before"

At last, I bought KH250 impulsively at a swap meet! The photos are the starting point of this restoration. I think this is "so, so" condition as a project bike. I'm thinking optimistic because the kick starter was worked. However, this restoration will be a little bit harder compared to the previous projects. I would make this into purple H2C color, finally (hopefully?).

KH250 Before a restoration Rusty Inside Rusty Engine

The end of exhaust silencers were turned to purple color by burning and the seat base was not in good condition by rust. Fortunately, the seller kindly send me a good seat base and exhausts (thanks, MASA-san), so there are no big issues (are you sure??).

Honestly said, I had another big issue..... My wife leached her explosion point when I bring this back to my house. Bomb! Oh, no......

Repair of Engine (Carburetor)

What is the first thing to do? Yes, carburetors! The right hand throttle slider hardly stacked into the carburetor body. I applied a penetrating oil from the top cap, but it didn't work. The carb has a adjuster of the slider stop at the top of the cap next to the throttle cable adjuster. I thought if I pull up the slider with the adjuster, I can move the stacked slider. It works! The photo shoes the carbs and the carb in the right is rusty right hand carb and the other is clean one.

Rusty Carb

After removing the carbs, I removed the insulator also to see the condition of piston. Then.....

Rusty Piston!

Oops! Rusty! I put a penetration oil into the cylinder so rust colored oil is twine around the piston.......

Before I saw this, I thought the engine should easily start if I cleaned the carbs and the plugs have a spark but after I saw this, I thought I'd better to cylinder off from the engine. Once, I thought "I saw nothing, I saw nothing...." but if I start the engine without checking the inside, the other part may be gone so I decided to do cylinders off from the engine.

Are you okay for cylinders off?

Okay, do anything you want! (my wife)
